Unknown Pleasures is the debut studio album by English rock band Joy Division, released on 15 June by Factory Records. The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April , and was produced by Martin Hannett, who incorporated a number of unconventional production techniques into the group's sound. Not that it is a terrible book, but it is just a really hard sell. Kennedy concludes at the end of this book that we shouldn't try to pin down exactly what it was Joy Division gave us in Unknown Pleasures and yet he spent pointless pages doing just that. Although nothing is gained from this volume I still - after 38 years and counting - love the record.
